|WHAT IS ONLINE THERAPY?
Itís a way of communicating with your counsellor or
psychotherapist, using your computer, without having
to be face-to-face. There are 3 main ways:
Voice/video, such as Skype; by email; and by
internet text messaging.
If you feel most comfortable just talking with
someone, then Skype is probably your best option.
Itís the most Ďrealí way of working, as we can each
see as well as hear each other if you want. Itís
quite popular and easy to use. At the moment Iím

Email is more reflective, as it takes time to read
through and make sense of everything thatís in the
wordsÖfor both of us. If youíre the sort of person
who enjoys writing your thoughts down, then a weekly
email option might be a good choice for you. The
advantage of email is that you can look back over
what you were feeling a few sessions ago and read
exactly what we both wrote.
Internet text messaging is another choice, and can
be very effective. If you can type reasonably
quickly, then you can cover quite a bit in an hour.
Whichever method you prefer, you can be flexible
with your choice. Once youíve decided to go ahead,
then you can choose from booking a single session to
different combinations of sessions.
